We have had hares in the garden
since day one and they have become friends with
us. We have 2 regulars, Harriet and Levi. They are Irish hares which
are different to the English Brown Hare, and more
closly related to the mountain hare, indeed thier
coats go almost white in winter.
At first Harriet
used to bring the young leverett (Levi) down the
drive and to the feeder area. Later on Levi would
turn up on his own and Harriet is now rarely
seen. During the summer you could sit on a rock,
only meters away from levi and watch him eat. He
likes variety, rarley eating the same plant for
more than a few minutes before changing to
something else.
